Riverside - Paterson's northernmost neighborhood

A walk along River Street just focus on that
Riverside
intro

Riverside is 60 percent Latino, about half of which are Dominican, with the rest being of Puerto Rican, Costa Rican, and Peruvian descent.

The Riverside section of Paterson was an Italian neighborhood, like many other parts of Paterson.  Today, like many other parts of Paterson, it is predominately made up of Dominicans and other Latinos.

Albanian cafe, Costa Rican restaurant, and many Dominican owned businesses along River Street.

Dino's formerly Dawa.  This restaurant was called Dawa until Wawa finally caught on and slapped the owner of this store with a lawsuit demanding they change their name, because the name is too similar and it would confuse some customers, thinking that it is almost the same thing.

The owner, insisted that Dawa means "all are welcome" in Korean but Wawa did not bulge.

So now it is Dino's, not Dawa.

A view of Bunker Hill, an industrial park, next to the Riverside section. ?

This is home to the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal.  Franciscan friars live a life of poverty and dedicate their lives and mission work to help the poor.

Get rid of?

Duffy’s is located near the border of Paterson,
next to Hawthorne. So this sign is fitting.

Al Pocadoro pizzeria

A cute little flower shop on River Street, near the bridge to Hawthorne.

Dominican businesses

A bodega next to a Dominican owned barber shop, Bani Barber Shop.  Bani is a town in the southern part of Dominican republic.  I believe a substantial portion of Paterson Dominicans from Paterson have origins from Bani, given there are a number of stores in Paterson that are named after this town.

The Riverside section in Paterson is very Dominican with some Costa Ricans, Peruvians, Puerto Ricans, and blacks.

A Chimi Truck.  Chimichurris are Dominican hamburgers and taste very good.

A picture of a palm tree on a beach I don't know if the picture to the bottom left is of Luis Marin Munoz.

I never tried the food here but I went to take pictures inside since a Puerto Rican restaurant is so rare in Paterson.  The owner was a really nice, cool dude who allowed me to take photos of his restaurant. May God bless him.

Should I have this pic?

Paterson has a strong Democratic influence.

Housing in Riverside

Businesses that cater to the large immigrant population in the neighborhood.  A money wiring business is right next to a bodega.  It may be hard to notice but the business on the left has many Latin American flags on its awning, representing the strong Latino diversity in Paterson and in Northeastern New Jersey.

Maybe?

La Finca restaurant, a Dominican restaurant. Finca means farm in Spanish.  I personally like restaurants like this where it feels very authentic yet they have artwork as well.  ????????

Put the mural

A painting of a Costa Rican flag on top of a Colombian flag.  There are quite a few Costa Ricans in Riverside.
