I liked the poblaciones of Barcelona.

It made me feel I was in Latin America

The buildings and the malls made feel feel like I was in the more modern, more upscale  parts of Santo Domingo San Juan and other major cities in Latin/ South America.

One time, I was talking to a taxi driver and I told him so I could direct him where my hotel was, that my hotel was in the suburbs.

He said “No. please don’t say that. What you are referring to is “Los poblaciones”

Suburbs mean ghetto places with high concentrations of poor people or minorities

Just like in France, where baniliue literally mean suburb but it refers to an area with a lot of poor people or immigrants.

This web definition from a Spanish site confirms it. . es

A picture of a Spanish game show I took in the hotel. The Spanish love their game shows.

Catalan is the main language.  But everyone speaks in Spanish. And like much of the rest of Europe, many Spaniards will also speak to you in English.

Spanish culture

Barcelona feels like South America.

The hustle and bustle (and crowds) makes you feel like you’re in NYC

Spanish women - they have attitudes.

Jamon Iberico

Pernil - the entrepa de paleta iberica

They like game shows a lot.

Vale

Politically incorrect

Is it Bad taste?

They’re more open to you, more extroverted.

Clerk Dances to a song sorry this just wakes me up

Punctual when it’s important, like for meetings

But with friends/ family can be  impunctual

“Spanish time” impunctual but not always

Me recojen a la 9 vuelo a la 12.

Rambla torriente de agua ahora de gente

Acquarius soda - Spanish

Ravanquistan - el raval!

No son suburbios, son populaciones

I noticed, by comparison, that everything in US had to be big

Spanish people speak English!

Spanish but also British, French, and German tourists come here too

A lot of Peruvian restaurants around. I guess it’s popular.

Muslims are here too

A lot of African Americans go to Barcelona

Nobody’s superior to me or inferior either.

I did feel a connection A- that this was my roots.

Food is cheaper there, even meals that would be more expensive like paella and lasagna bolognese like 15 euros my paella tho was 31.

Paella cheap more like street food/ fast food and more greasy.ironically enough it reminded me of chifa

More extroverted- Flight attendants to guests why are you laughing? Borracha, in a joking way!

I’m Europe and Latin America, it seems like you’re not a “wuss”

It’s ok to show emotion I saw two French women crying

In the US, more repressed.

Make mistakes A guy said I told you if you could go after but he only offered 8 am 9 am lol

I feel the Spanish and the Italians are similar

Guidos

Although Mediterranean culture is seen as laid back, Spanish take their jobs seriously.

You could even see how stressed some are.

Even though Catalan is the official language, everyone speaks Spanish

The Spanish also speak English

Bc it’s Europe where countries are so closer to one another that everyone is either bilingual or trilingual.

Maybe being close to the sun p

Mango strawberry kiwi? drink

American guy in shirt “Nobody cares. Work harder.”

Spanish women are prettier than Italian women, imo.

Most had that dark white( Mediterranean look

Some blondes tho and they spoke Spanish too.

I feel in Europe they take care of their citizens more.

For example, I guess the government allows taxi drivers to be Uber drivers

Whereas, in nyc Uber drove taxi drivers out.

There was an area off the highway where I saw a soccer field and the buildings felt like Colombia or Latin America

In fact, some of the suburbs with their skyscrapers and modern shopping malls can make you feel you’re in Latin America.

Barcelona feels like South America but South America has more poverty

Some of the buildings and plazas feel like you’re in Latin America.

Parc Montjuic feels like South America

A lot of the architecture feels like you’re in Italy strong Mediterranean feel

Even Lyon felt like this

Passeig de Gracia for them it’s upscale for us not so much like Zara and H&M

France you have to make sure you have your seat belt (more enforced)

France some of these old towns look like old well kept NJ towns

Despite their reputation of being “laid back” and having a “live and let live” attitude, every Spanish worker I saw took their job seriously.

That didn’t take their sweet time, for example, like in other places

Lyon a Mediterranean city

People do u turns on a street I didn’t see that in Paris

Placa d’Espanya, Placa catalyuna, Placa colon

Red buildings

There was a brother and sister who I thought were  Puerto Rican (remember we’re going to newark) but were Spanish, the girl was light skinned and had curly hair. Had a light skinned but still mixed look to them. Moors? Even mixed with Africans?

Even eating ham and cheese in Europe is an awesome experience there.

Spanish women were beautiful

Spanish women are more prettier than the Italian women I find in nj.

Spanish are more similar to Latin Americans than one might think

The Spanish take work more diligently/ seriously

Some Spaniards look Puerto Rican, just dating

The Spanish are white with a different flavor

Some of their Uber drivers drive really fast though

They have more value for time

They don’t take their time

Peruvians are not punctual, like the Spaniards

A brown woman maybe a South American spoke to me in Spanish and English, just like everyone else in Europe who speaks English

I guess they don’t have “lowered expectations” of us brown folk in Spain or in Europe like they do in the US.

I was racially profiled in the airport

If more than Spanish person speaks to you in English, that means they see you as an American.

Spain felt a lot like Italy

Spanish people can be blunt

A lot of the drivers in Spain are Spanish, in other countries they are immigrant.

I saw one indigenous (South American?) guy there

Spanish women love to dance.

Valencians will say the paella you ate isn’t really paella

Placa de toros.what you have in your photos.

Spain is the most distinct country I’ve been to in Europe.

I noticed Spanish men are masculine.

Uber drivers drive really fast, want to get things done.

Are Spanish women neutral?

Maybe the Spanish are more alegre? Festive, like to party. I guess Italians are the same way.

Spanish are like soda you shake them long enough they explode

Peruvians are not like that. We are more calm.

The Dominicans have that temper. It’s probably from the Spaniards lol
